Hello, I am amazed by the wonderful job you’ve done here, not only with the keyboards but the extraordinary effort you’ve put into reproducing and honestly surpassing what IBM did post-F time-frame with their keys… You have more options and colors available that it seems IBM ever did, like the dark grey keys.

I really like the look of the DOLCH color scheme, and it would be really cool if I could do that with one of your F77s… I’m having difficulty determining if it actually is possible with the color keys you have? It seems like it is, but I’m not sure.

Here is an able of what I mean:

Thanks!

Hi Daniel,

Glad you are joining the project, and thank you for the kind words!

Unfortunately black keys can not be sublimated so your color scheme with printed keys is not possible unless you buy the one Model M model that was pad printed with white text on black keys (13H6705) and use those keys on your new Model F (they should be compatible).  All the other Model F and Model M keyboards were sublimated pearl/pebble keys.

However if you are fine with unprinted keys, you can certainly get what you are looking for with all-new parts.  You’d need to order a spare unprinted black or dark gray key set, and order the keyboard with black keys (or order the keyboard without keys and order both the dark gray unprinted and black unprinted key sets) as substitution of key colors within a key set is not possible.
