Sorry, I’m a complete newbie when it comes to Model Fs, but from my understanding, the foam used in the construction of original model Fs seems to decompose/rot naturally over time causing the keyboard not to work properly.

Is the foam being used for these new Model Fs going to be different or less prone to rotting/decomposing, or does the foam only rot under certain poor conditions?

Yes it should last for many years.  We are using a different type of foam, not the crumbly kind used by IBM.

Foam does lose resilience over time when compressed in the keyboard for many years, so I recommend ordering some pieces of spare pre-cut inner foam.
